South Korea is an important industrial market and trade partner. Busan, one of the busiest ports in the world, is the main gateway for Indian cargo.
Routes and ports
Exports leave Nhava Sheva or Chennai for Busan, often via a transhipment hub such as Singapore or a Chinese port. Busan then connects to other Korean ports and inland destinations.
Typical transit times
- Ocean FCL: approximately 16 to 26 days depending on routing.
- Air freight: generally 3 to 6 days to Seoul (Incheon).
Documentation
Standard export documents apply. A certificate of origin can support preferential duty where a trade agreement applies, so confirm with your buyer whether one is needed.
